I know i haven't been able to post new articles cause I was tied up with online classes and homework. Speaking of e-learning, believe it or not, millions of learners and educators have adapted it in daily life but everyone has a spectrum of opinions on the ease of learning through this medium. Since this pandemic has overall altered our life in many ways, it has forced us to acclimatize to digital screens over textbooks. What are your opinions on this?

THE ERA OF E-LEARNING 

Honestly speaking, online education is an idyllic fantasy for me; attending class in pajamas, sitting with a tub of ice-cream during profound shower of knowledge and giving me a perfect way to binge on Netflix whilst attending class. Well, I can say that Genie has already granted my one out of three wishes.Meanwhile, all educators approach this new paradigm with either great enthusiasm or varying degrees of skepticism. Parents are arguing about the futility of conducting online classes for younger students and most learners are facing issues with the technological aspect of this mode of learning. All these facets have created an overall controversy which elopes the general idea of learning through screens.

Since online learning is an unprecedented territory for most of us, it poses potential threats to the success of it. Students from rural or lower socioeconomic neighborhoods are facing challenges with lack of access to a suitable device or network bandwidth along with minimum computer skills which are hampering with the success rate of online programs. Additionally, technology is neither seamless nor reliable because one can come across numerous issues including internet connections, sites crashing down, several internal problems in the app and the list continues giving more excuses to pupils for not completing their homework. Teachers are having difficulties in explaining some concepts through screens, additionally, many learners are having trouble in understanding particular topics.

Conversely, e-learning offers a whole new perspective to modern education along with opening endless possibilities for pupils to explore multiple courses on one topic from any part of the world. Asynchronous online learning has allowed physically challenged learners and educators to participate in class without any restrictions. Time efficiency is another strength brought by e-classes as the transportation time is saved. According to teachers, students are more focused and attentive in online classes as the distractions are less thus avoiding unnecessary chit-chats. The creativity of educators has overall boosted as they come up with multiple ways to ensure the learner has understood the topic well.

Socializing is the one thing missed by e-learning as it is quite tough to make friends and interact with professors cause it simply misses the human touch. It is a known fact that peers play a quintessential role in understanding the logistical concepts and adapting to a new environment to bring a level of comfort among people who you haven't met before.

We have now entered an era where the conventional textbooks are replaced with sleek and shiny laptops which has the knowledge of the whole world only with a click of a mouse. Deep down we all miss the traditional classroom way of learning but at least till the pandemic is over, we must adapt to it!
